Project Management

My mission: Shaping the energy transition
At a time when the energy transition is not merely an option but a necessity, I have the opportunity to work alongside the foremost experts in my field at 50Hertz. I see beyond individual projects, I identify opportunities, develop visions, and implement impressive large-scale projects. I am part of an international team that does not just talk about the energy transition but actively shapes it.
At 50Hertz, I am not just an ordinary project manager, I am an architect of a sustainable energy future. Through our major infrastructure projects in the North and Baltic Seas or in Eastern Germany, I redefine the limits of what is technically possible and develop solutions that will shape future generations.
In an era of rapid change, my mission is to ensure the backbone of energy supply remains stable while also driving its transformation forward. Even in turbulent times, I stay on course and successfully deliver complex large-scale projects.
50Hertz has a clear goal: By 2032, 100% renewable energy should be securely integrated into the power grid. This is an ambitious objective that I achieve together with exceptional international talents.
As part of the Elia Group, I connect not only power grids but also people and cultures. My projects are complex infrastructure undertakings that require technical excellence, strategic thinking, and strong leadership. From international network connections to innovative multi-terminal hubs, I create the milestones of the energy transition.

Where can I work in project management?
What tasks can I take on?
At 50Hertz, there are a variety of projects, most of which serve the energy transition. These include new construction, expansion, and renovation, both onshore and offshore. Due to their scale, major direct current transmission projects attract significant public attention. Construction projects often focus on overhead lines, cable connections, or substations. Additionally, expanding the offshore grid in the North and Baltic Seas presents a highly technical and investment-intensive challenge.
However, that is not all. There are also other exciting projects at 50Hertz, such as those related to digitalization or corporate development. For large-scale or overall project management, there is also the opportunity to first take on responsibility for a subproject.
What competencies should I bring?
While expertise in electrical or civil engineering is valuable, project management experience, ideally in the right environment, is often more important. Established project management methods (ensuring time, cost, and performance targets) can sometimes be more relevant than a specific academic degree. Additionally, experience with project management tools (e.g., MS Project / SAP) or a project management certification can be an advantage.
A job with a future

Billion-euro project is looking for a doer. Manage innovative large-scale offshore and onshore projects with high project volumes.

As one of the four transmission grid operators in Germany, 50Hertz is responsible for high-voltage power transmission; control at this level is decisive for the stability of the grid and to ensure a secure electricity supply in Germany and Europe. We are part of a European grid association, working closely with colleagues throughout Europe. 50Hertz is part of a European company, working alongside Belgian grid operator Elia in the Elia Group. We work together closely in many key areas. Individual activities such as IT or purchasing are organised at the group level, which means that in these areas colleagues from Elia and 50Hertz work in a team from both Berlin and Brussels.

Whether you work on a platform, on substations, or in the office, if you want to work actively to combat climate change, you will find that the offshore division provides opportunities for meaningful work. The jobs available range from technical and engineering duties to administration and support services.
