Join us in driving the energy transition – sustainably!

That makes this job interesting for you: As a transmission system operator, we are at the forefront of the energy transition. Our goal is to achieve this in a sustainable way. The largest share of our environmental impact comes from Scope 3 emissions. That’s why we are committed to implementing sustainable practices in our procurement processes — working hand in hand with our suppliers to decarbonize our entire value chain. Become part of our German-Belgian team and help shape a greener future!

Your tasks:

  • Conduct analysis and market research on sustainability topics such as green vessel fuels or how other companies apply carbon pricing,
  • Support the annual Supplier Risk Analysis process to meet LKSG and CSRD reporting requirements,
  • Support us with the quarterly EcoVadis ESG rating monitoring and creation of our green procurement dashboard,
  • Prepare presentations and training material to promote sustainability within our procurement departments,
  • Develop new approaches to make sustainability mechanisms more applicable in tendering practices,
  • Assist with specific tenders: design carbon pricing models and simulations, review bidder documents (e.g., sustainability concepts),
  • Create carbon passports in our SAP Upstream Platform, support supplier onboarding, and collect relevant data.

What we are looking for...

  • You are pursuing an advanced bachelor’s or master’s degree (ideally in economics, sustainability, engineering, or natural sciences),
  • You are available for at least one year,
  • You have already gained practical experience through training, an internship, or a student position,
  • You have a strong interest in sustainability,
  • You bring organizational skills and enjoy working collaboratively in a team,
  • You work independently, in a structured manner and you communicate effectively
  • You have an affinity for numbers and digital tools,
  • You are proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint),
  • You have excellent German skills (C1) and good English skills (B2), both written and spoken.

As one of the four transmission grid operators in Germany, 50Hertz is responsible for high-voltage power transmission; control at this level is decisive for the stability of the grid and to ensure a secure electricity supply in Germany and Europe. We are part of a European grid association, working closely with colleagues throughout Europe. 50Hertz is part of a European company, working alongside Belgian grid operator Elia in the Elia Group. We work together closely in many key areas. Individual activities such as IT or purchasing are organised at the group level, which means that in these areas colleagues from Elia and 50Hertz work in a team from both Berlin and Brussels.
