50Hertz is one of the four transmission system operators (TSO) in Germany. We transport electricity at extra-high voltage level. Engineering & Development:
- Definition und Weiterentwicklung unserer Compute-Technologiestandards für die erfolgreiche digitale Transformation des Energiemarktes,
- Validierung und Implementierung neuer Technologien, wie Vollautomatisierung/ZeroTouch oder Desaster Recovery in on-premise und hybriden Umgebungen, Ansible, Terraform etc.,
- Grundsteinlegung bei der Entwicklung von Dual-Vendor-Ansätzen, um neben geschlossenen Systemen auch auf Open Source-Technologien zugreifen zu können (z.B. ProxMox, KVM etc.).
Operations:
- Sicherstellung des 24/7 Betriebs durch unser Operations-Team inkl. Überwachung, Patching, Backup&Restore, Tests, Reporting etc.,
- Lifecyclemanagement von Serverplattformen und virtuellen Infrastrukturen,
- Verfügbarkeits- und Kapazitätsmanagement,
- Erstellen von Betriebsdokumenten,
- Lösungsfindung bei kritischen Problemen, d.h. Einsatz des eigenen 3rd-Level-Fachwissens und Koordination des jeweiligen Softwarelieferanten,
- Anpacken bei Hands-on-Themen im Datacenter,
- Optional: Teilnahme am Bereitschaftskreis.
Meine Kompetenzen:
- Abgeschlossenes Studium oder Berufsausbildung im Bereich Informatik oder einer vergleichbaren Fachrichtung,
- Nachweisbare vertiefte Kenntnisse mit min. 5 Jahren Erfahrung in folgenden Bereichen:
- VMware Virtualisierung und Orchestrierung,
- IT-Automatisierung und -Scripting,
- Storage & Netzwerkanbindungen,
- Image-basierte Backupsysteme,
- Security Best Practices,
- On-premise und Hybrid Cloud Architekturen,
- Server Hardware,
- Darüber hinaus idealerweise: Container Hosting; Change Management via bspw. Gitlab.
- Ausgezeichnete Problemlösefähigkeit und analytische Vorgehensweise,
- Starke Kommunikations- und Teamfähigkeit,
- Ausgeprägtes Prozessverständnis und eine schnelle Auffassungsgabe,
- Sprachen: Deutsch (C1), Englisch (mind. B2).

As one of the four transmission grid operators in Germany, 50Hertz is responsible for high-voltage power transmission; control at this level is decisive for the stability of the grid and to ensure a secure electricity supply in Germany and Europe. We are part of a European grid association, working closely with colleagues throughout Europe. 50Hertz is part of a European company, working alongside Belgian grid operator Elia in the Elia Group. We work together closely in many key areas. Individual activities such as IT or purchasing are organised at the group level, which means that in these areas colleagues from Elia and 50Hertz work in a team from both Berlin and Brussels.
